The Privacy Law Blogging Prize — Competition Rules

To promote brevity and succinctness, there is a strict 1,000 word limit per entry.

Entries must be substantially about the competition topic, which this year is privacy law and social media. If in doubt, please email us an outline of your idea in advance to journal@legalcheek.com.

Other than the word limit, Legal Cheek Journal style guidelines apply.

To be eligible to apply for the competition, you must be either:

1. A law (LLB) student
2. A law (LLB) graduate
3. A Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) student
4. A Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) graduate

We stress that GDL students will be eligible for the competition but will not be eligible to apply for the New York Bar, an examination run by competition sponsors BARBRI International. If in any doubt about your eligibility, please email journal@legalcheek.com.

Legal Cheek’s editorial staff will shortlist the top five entries, with the blogs in this shortlist then passed on to an independent judging panel to decide the winner and two highly commended pieces.

The competition prize is a free return flight to New York City. The competition prize has a maximum value of £500 and must be redeemed by September 2018.

The winner will be notified by email and receive his or her prize at a BARBRI International function.

In consideration of Legal Cheek and BARBRI International providing the competition each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to Legal Cheek and BARBRI International to feature any or all of the entries in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition, without compensation.
