Opportunity is part of firm’s continued expansion into Asia
International law firm RPC has just become a little more international, thanks to a new Singapore secondment for its London trainees.
The firm has confirmed that current trainees — both first and second year — are being invited to apply for a secondment based within the firm’s busy insurance team in Singapore. Focusing on “complex high value property and casualty disputes”, the six-month scheme is due to run from March to September 2017.
RPC — which currently offers around 15 London-based training contracts — anticipates the new opportunity will help build upon its successful secondment programme in Hong Kong. Simon Hart, partner and training principal at the firm, said:
This new secondment is a key opportunity for our trainees, and will enable the secondee to grow their global business experience as well as build mutually-beneficial relations with colleagues in Singapore. The secondment is driven by current business needs. Our teams in Singapore are extremely busy right now, so announcement of this new secondment comes at just the right time in the development of our Asia-Pacific offering.
Hoping to strengthen the links between RPC’s London headquarters and its Asia outposts, Hart continued:
Our closer working relationship between London, Hong Kong and Singapore is testament to the value we place on fostering cohesion and collaboration between people in all our offices.
The development comes just a week after Legal Cheek published exclusive research about the international opportunities available in a plethora of UK firms.
Finishing top was White & Case, where 83% of trainees and junior lawyers at the London office of the US giant had an opportunity to spend time abroad.
Taking second podium position was City outfit Watson Farley & Williams, which bagged second place with 80%, while magic circle player Linklaters came in third with 64%.
