Ntokozo Qwabe denies claim, and comments on law students’ “delusional toxic superiority complex”
An Oxford University law graduate has hit the headlines this week as footage emerged of him “intimidating” students at a final year law lecture.
A video tweeted by an anonymous law student at the University of Cape Town, where controversial aspiring lawyer Ntokozo Qwabe studied before enrolling at Oxbridge, appears to show Qwabe disrupting a law lecture to protest against tuition fees. The tweet says former Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) student Qwabe “hits [a] phone out of [a] filming student’s hand with [a] stick”.

Qwabe — a former Rhodes scholar who notably led his elite university’s Rhodes Must Fall in Oxford movement — has been quick to defend himself against these allegations.
Reportedly addressing the accusations on his Facebook page, the 25-year-old said it’s “not true” he assaulted the student, before adding:
Although I wish I’d actually not been a good law abiding citizen & whipped the white apartheid settler colonial entitlement out of the bastard — who continued to video record us without our consent — this is not what happened as the media is reporting.

The graduate, who became a figure of controversy earlier this year when he boasted about making a waitress cry “typical white tears” when he wrote “WE WILL GIVE TIP WHEN YOU RETURN THE LAND” on his bill — also took the opportunity to address a notable law student stereotype. The Facebook post continues:
Contrary to what our delusional toxic superiority complex tells us, we are NOT special as law students!
Charming.
