What is going on at the Bar Council? The body that acts as the quasi-trade union for barristers in England and Wales seems to have discovered a sense of humour.
Only about three weeks after promoting National Pro Bono Week with an image of an ageing and slightly pretentious Irish rock star, the council has tweeted this gem of 1980s fictional Dallas oil baron JR Ewing.
It’s all in aid of launching a report on the implications of the Criminal Justice and Courts Bill on judicial review, which it jointly produced with those other laughter merchants, the Law Society and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
It won’t be long before Bar Council Chairman Nicholas Lavender QC of Serle Court in Lincoln’s Inn is headlining one of the quieter evenings down the Comedy Store in Leicester Square.
How many silks does it take to screw in a light bulb …?
