Going mobile
Abu Dhabi is not just about oil, camel racing and Manchester City — the natural resource-rich sheiks are also keen to be at the cutting edge of mobile justice.
According to a report on the website of Arabian Business magazine, the emirate’s authorities are gearing up to launch a mobile court.
Housed in a state-of-the-art double-decker bus, the courtroom on wheels is set to hit the road to remote desert communities from next month.
The magazine quoted Yasir Salem Al Mahri, from the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, explaining the rationale behind the rolling court:
“The bus will serve as an official court and could be used for cases involving large groups of people living in one area, such as labour camps, or that involve people who find it difficult to attend court, such as those with special needs.”
