Top lawyers share their secrets to success; students ask the questions
Legal Cheek‘s latest virtual event in its Secrets to Success series — held in association with The University of Law (ULaw) — focuses on the Yorkshire legal market.
Taking place on Tuesday 11 August, from 4pm to 6:30pm, the event marks ULaw’s arrival in Sheffield to deliver the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and the Legal Practice Course (LPC).
Time: 4pm to 6:30pm
Location: Virtual event
Level: Students, Graduates
It begins with a panel discussion featuring lawyers from the Sheffield offices of CMS and Irwin Mitchell, as well as a careers expert from ULaw. The discussion will be chaired by a Legal Cheek journalist, who will put questions to the panel about key commercial awareness issues, including the effect of Covid-19 on law and business. The speakers will also be encouraged to discuss their career journeys and advise students hoping to follow a similar path.
The speakers
- David Withers, serious injury partner at Irwin Mitchell
- Laura Cole, real estate disputes associate at CMS
- Matt Tomlinson, campus dean (ULaw Leeds and Sheffield campuses) and former corporate restructuring and insolvency lawyer at DLA Piper
After the panel discussion there will then be virtual networking with the speakers, trainees from their firms and some of ULaw’s campus ambassadors.
Apply to attend below. You’ll be asked to submit a CV and two questions for the panel.
