Inn appoints Sir Robert McAlpine to oversee construction of new education and training centre
Plans to build a state of the art education and training facility at Inner Temple moved a step closer this week, the Inn confirming the appointment of construction giant Sir Robert McAlpine to oversee the ambitious multi-million pound project.
Dubbed by Inn bosses as ‘Project Pegasus’, the radical redevelopment features a new modern purpose-built education suite boasting a 120-seat auditorium, training rooms and breakout spaces. The project — which received planning approval in 2017 — also includes an overhaul of the Inn’s basement kitchen, re-allocation and refurbishment of staff offices and a new balcony offering “spectacular views” of Inner Temple’s gardens.
In a statement confirming Sir Robert McAlpine’s appointment as lead contractor, the Inn said the project “will refocus the use of the whole building and create a new fourth floor with a glazed roof light creating a bright and welcoming space.”
Meanwhile, across London, another multi-million pound Inn-based building project is well underway. The new subterranean education suite at Lincoln’s Inn will feature a 150-plus seat lecture theatre and numerous breakout spaces. It is due to be completed later this year.
