Tuesday 4 December at ULaw Birmingham; open to all students
Top lawyers share their secrets to success; students ask the questions
The latest leg of Legal Cheek’s Secrets to Success series — in association with The University of Law (ULaw) — will be held in Birmingham. The session will help students boost their commercial awareness as they apply for vacation schemes and training contracts.
Taking place on the evening of Tuesday 4 December at ULaw Birmingham, the event features a panel of leading lawyers from Gowling WLG, Irwin Mitchell and Pinsent Masons, alongside ULaw Birmingham’s campus dean Sarah Ramsey. The quartet will share the secrets to their own success, while also advising students on how they can best position themselves to obtain training contracts with leading firms. They will look, too, to the future and give their views on what changes we can expect in the legal market.
The speakers
Samantha Holland, a partner in Gowling WLG’s commercial litigation. Read about how Sam’s struggle to secure a training contract helped her build resilience.
Matt Smith, a corporate associate at Irwin Mitchell.
Andrew Herring, a partner in Pinsent Masons’ civil fraud and asset recovery team.
Sarah Ramsey, dean of ULaw Birmingham.
After the Question Time-style discussion, there will be drinks and networking with the speakers and a collection of the firms’ trainees and members of their graduate recruitment teams.
Apply to attend below. The event is open to all students. You’ll be asked to submit a CV and two questions for the panel.
