Winner to be announced at exclusive online ceremony tonight from 6pm
There are all sorts of things that make or break a junior lawyer’s experience in a law firm. Will I receive top-quality work? Are the partners nice? Does the office have a canteen? What are the perks?
We picked the brains of over 2,000 corporate law insiders to find out what they think about the country’s leading law firms, as part of this year’s Legal Cheek Trainee and Junior Lawyer Survey. They were quizzed on ten categories: training, quality of work, peer support, partner approachability, work/life balance, tech, perks, office, canteen and social life.
We combined the scores of all ten categories. Below is the shortlist, listed alphabetically, for the ten best-performing firms.
The winning law firm will be announced at The Virtual Legal Cheek Awards 2020, sponsored by BARBRI, a special invite-only online event taking place this evening, on Thursday 26 March. There will also be awards for 20 other categories.

Three-hundred guests will don their most glamorous outfits (from waist upwards) and tune into tonight’s live ceremony from 6pm.
This year’s hotly-antipated legal ceremony will kick off with a welcome from Legal Cheek founder Alex Aldridge, alongside Legal Cheek reporter and resident DJ Adam Mawardi. BARBRI managing director Sarah Hutchinson will deliver an online presentation of the findings of the Legal Cheek SQE survey before guests are treated to the premiere of the annual Legal Cheek mockumentary.
Aldridge will then be joined by award sponsors and guest presenters to announce the winners for the 21 categories of this year’s awards while viewers heckle and chatter along in the sidebar live chat.
Virtual cocktail networking will ensue in which guests participate in five three-minute video chats with other attendees chosen at random. Then in the ‘Expo’ guests will be able to video chat in groups, in tents named after various tipples. There’ll also be a ‘The Legal Cheek Hangout (feat. DJ Adam)’ and a ‘The BARBRI SQE Tent’.
The session will break shortly at 8pm for guests to participate in the national round of applause for NHS staff, before concluding with closing remarks from the Legal Cheek team and goodbyes in the Expo tents.
