UCL law graduate wins flight to New York for article on privacy law and social media

Winner of Legal Cheek and BARBRI International’s annual blogging prize revealed

A recent UCL law graduate has emerged triumphant in The Privacy Law Blogging Prize, run by Legal Cheek and US state Bar exam preparation provider BARBRI International, winning a return flight to New York City.

Natalie Chyi’s entry on data ownership was described as “spot on” by the competition’s judges: the managing director of BARBRI International, Sarah Hutchinson, and 5RB barrister Greg Callus.

Chyi’s winning entry, which you can read here, narrowly pipped runner-up Joe Ferris, also a law graduate, to the post. He wins a scholarship of £500 towards a BARBRI course. The three other shortlisted entrants — George Ketsopoulos, Wilkie Hollens and Chloe Amies — will alongside the top two be published on Legal Cheek in the coming weeks.

Chyi will receive her prize at BARBRI’s American Independence Party in London on 4 July. The party is open to all, and you can register to attend here.
