Leeds law grad counts Floyd Mayweather Jr and Robbie Williams among his celebrity pals
The mystery man spotted dropping Princess Beatrice off at a posh Italian restaurant in Los Angeles has been identified as ex-Clifford Chance junior associate turned millionaire business guru James Williams.
Williams completed his law degree at the University of Leeds in 2001 before going on to finish his legal studies at Nottingham Law School. He joined magic circle outfit Clifford Chance in 2003 and specialised in structured private equity and venture capital deals. Williams — who also has a masters from the University of Pennsylvania — spent just over two years at the firm, according to his LinkedIn.
And how is Williams finding life post-magic circle? Well, the ex-Clifford chance man — who now runs a successful US-based business consultancy firm — appears to be living a life even his former high-flying City counterparts can only dream of.
His public Instagram page shows Williams — originally from Walton on the Hill, Surrey — rubbing shoulders with the likes of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr, singer Robbie Williams, rugby player Chris Robshaw and actor Cuba Gooding Jr.
Boarding private jets.
And soaking up the sun on luxury mega-yachts…
The former corporate lawyer became the subject of media interest over the weekend after Princess Beatrice was photographed being dropped off in a Bentley by Williams following a night out in West Hollywood. Currently seventh in line to the throne, the princess is the vice president of a Washington DC-based computer software business. The 29-year-old separated from long-term American boyfriend Dave Clark in 2016, according to reports.
