Battle of the law firm Xmas trees: Legal Cheek’s official round-up

‘Tis the season to hit billing targets be jolly

It’s that time of year again where law firms, embracing the Christmas spirit, turn their plush marble-clad lobbies into veritable festive feasts for the eyes.

From Hogan Lovells’ giant baubles to Freshfields‘ unique present tree, lawyers are tripping over themselves to prove they love Saint Nick the most. So without further ado, here is Legal Cheek’s official round-up of the best law firm Christmas trees.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

A very strong showing from the Anglo-German giant this year. Opting for a unique present-based structure, the Christmas tree even features a sign warning lawyers — who might overindulge at this year’s office party — not to climb it.

Linklaters

A classy effort from the magic circle outfit. Opting for silver branches instead of tacky-tinsel went down well at Legal Cheek HQ.

Bond Dickinson

Delightful bauble colour coordination from the lawyers at Bond Dickinson. Positioning of the tree could be better, but top marks for the star!

Watson Farley & Williams

A real homely feel from this international law firm. Pro tip: fake Christmas presents are a nice way of hiding that unsightly tree base.

Shoosmiths (Birmingham)

A solid effort from the real estate and personal injury specialists. However points are deducted for using what appears to be an artificial tree and failure to add a star or angel.

Osborne Clarke

Excellent decorations on this tree. Black baubles don’t exactly scream ‘happy holidays’ but, in a Nightmare Before Christmas kind of way, it weirdly works.

Fletchers

An interesting choice of filter on this photograph. But that aside, there’s good bauble distribution and a nice star.

Norton Rose Fulbright

A giant tree for a giant firm. But the terracotta pot has to go.

Travers Smith

A lovely looking tree that wouldn’t look out of place in the reception of a swanky hotel. We particularly like the spray painted pine cones.

Slaughter and May

Not satisfied with just one tree, the elite magic circle firm has punted for a whole Christmas forest. Rumours that two of its top lawyers are currently lost in it remain unconfirmed.

Burges Salmon

Matching the colour of your decorations with your firm’s logo will always score highly with Legal Cheek.

Hogan Lovells

An incredible effort from the folk at Hogan Lovells. A monster of a tree with baubles the size of a human (we are reliably informed). Christmas stockings are also a nice touch.
