Brexit? What Brexit?
Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) today announced it has teamed up with the Sorbonne Law School in France to offer students a double master of laws LLM programme in Paris, with applications for the January 2017 intake now open.
Instead of just springtime in Paris, students will spend over a year and a half in the French capital and at the end of the course will receive both an LLM in international business law from QMUL, and an LLM in French and European law with the Sorbonne. They will be taught in both French and English and study in small classes taken by professors from both institutions.
The innovative programme has been devised and developed by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at QMUL working in conjunction with the Sorbonne.
Professor Morag Shiach — QMUL vice-principal (humanities and social sciences) and a signatory to the agreement — said:
CCLS has developed an exciting range of new programmes in recent years, working with partners across the EU and in East Asia. The signing of this agreement with the Sorbonne will allow QMUL to offer a really innovative programme leading to two LLM degrees, where students will benefit from the expertise of academics and practitioners working in the context of two different legal systems.
Dr Maxi Scherer, director CCLS Paris and co-director of the Sorbonne QMUL double LLM in Paris, said:
This new programme will combine our strength and provide students with a unique opportunity to study commercial and business law in both languages, from a comparative and international perspective. We look forward to welcoming our future students to this innovative and bilingual law programme.
