Global white shoe giant revealed today that all 14 of its London-based freshly-minted junior solicitors will remain at the firm
New York-based White & Case continued the retention trend in the City of London established by several of its US counterparts and posted a perfect autumn figure of 100%, the firm announced earlier this morning.
The practice — which offers around 30 training contracts a year — has today revealed that all 14 autumn qualifiers have accepted permanent positions at its Square Mile office.
The 14 — who start on a recently boosted pay package of £90,000 — will be spread across several of the firm’s key practice areas, including capital markets, banking, private equity, disputes and energy.
Today’s announcement rounds off an excellent retention year for the firm, which also kept 100% of its spring qualifiers.
White & Case partner and training principal Justin Benson commented:
There is substantial growth in demand for English law qualified lawyers, both in our London office and in many of our global offices. Our historically high retention rates reflect the firm’s continuing ability to retain the very best young lawyers by supporting their development.
Perfect autumn retention figures are becoming a habit for US firms in the City. Sullivan & Cromwell, Weil Gotshal & Manges and Shearman & Sterling have all announced 100% retention figures in the past month.
