That bookish look
Whatever happened to the days when the authors of books on legal practice wore a standard uniform of tweed jacket with leather elbow patches and a dickie bow?
Meet Chrissie Lightfoot, aka “the Naked Lawyer”, who this evening will be launching the second installment in her series of self-help guides for law firms, which is elaborately titled: “Tomorrow’s Naked Lawyer: NewTech, NewHuman, NewLaw — How to be successful, 2015-2045”.
But Lightfoot is clearly not — to paraphrase Yogi Bear — your average lawyer. A qualified — but non-practising — solicitor, Lightfoot runs the Entrepreneur Lawyer consultancy, which instructs small and medium-sized law firms on the business possibilities of social media and other cyberspace-related issues.
In other words, she’s a bit like that legal tech guru Richard Susskind, but with a difference.
For example, Lightfoot is also a keen amateur model — hence Legal Cheek’s craven pillaging of her online photo portfolio.
However, we are assured that bikinis will not be on the cards for this evening’s book launch at the City offices of high flying Anglo-Australian law firm Herbert Smith Freehills — unless recently elevated senior partner James Palmer rocks up in one.
