Hammer time
ITV’s drama Broadchurch has been subject to much criticism in recent weeks for its many glaring legal errors.
From witnesses being present in court prior to giving evidence, to points of law being discussed in front of the jury — there’s an abundance of howlers to pick from.
However if you’re going to have a pop — be sure not to make a gaffe yourself. Which, on the face of it, appears to be exactly what the Guardian have gone and done.
Brought to our attention by Tumblr Inappropriate Gavels, the Guardian illustrated their piece highlighting lawyers’ negative feedback about the legal accuracy of the show — using a gavel (see screenshot above).
It’s not clear whether it’s been used ironically — but knowing the wider press’ love of the little hammer — we suspect not.
