An intellectual property firm has nicked a corporate law firm’s name

Like rain on your wedding day

A website purporting to belong to a Chinese intellectual property law firm has set up shop at www.norton-rose-fulbright.com.

www.norton-rose-fulbright.com
is, naturally, not to be confused with www.nortonrosefulbright.com, the online home of global mega firm Norton Rose Fulbright.

www.norton-rose-fulbright.com is written entirely in Chinese. But when what appears to be the ‘About Us’ section is put through Google Translate it reads:

“Norton Rose Fulbright consists of Norton Rose Fulbright Intellectual Property Agency Ltd. and law firm Norton Rose Fulbright (chips) in two parts, is mainly engaged in intellectual property patents, trademarks, copyrights, domain names, unfair competition agency services and legal affairs, providing customers with comprehensive, high-quality intellectual property protection services.

“Norton Rose Fulbright has a rich patent, trademark agency experienced by a group of senior lawyers, patent agents and trade mark agents composed of a collection of a large number of graduated from Peking University, Renmin University, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Foreign Studies University and other prestigious comprehensive high-quality universities, business ability, work experience, a good sense of service outstanding professionals.”

Isn’t it ironic that these “outstanding professionals” in the area of IP law would have such little respect for others’ intellectual property?
