Law lecturer lip sync battles are a thing

Lip sync battles — as popularised by British comic Stephen Merchant, whose wonderful lip sync performance on The Tonight Show has become a YouTube classic — have finally reached the law

A US law student has uploaded a video of his lecturers engaged in an incredible Stephen Merchant-style ‘lip sync battle’, sparking hopes (among the Legal Cheek editorial team) that the trend could cross the Atlantic and sweep through the law schools of England and Wales this autumn.

What appears to be a formal awards presentation at the University of New Mexico law school takes an unexpected turn when a law student announces to the audience:

“I have always wanted to do a lip sync battle, and more specifically I have always wanted to do a lip sync battle with law professors!”

This is what happened next…

Law lecturer lip syncs to Firework by Katy Perry:

Law lecturer lip syncs to Heavy’s ‘How you like me now?’

Law lecturer lip syncs to Vanilla Ice’s lesser known track ‘Ninja Rap’.

Law student who challenged law lecturers to the battle rounds off with his own performance of Cher Lloyd’s ‘Want U Back’.

Those crazy Americans! The full battle is here:
