When adjusted to take into account of inflation, £11,000 salary paid in 1988 by Clifford Chance to trainees (then known as “articled clerks”) equates to just £24,988 today.
As for the size of firms and the general pecking order, well that has changed a fair bit too. Today Clifford Chance has almost 600 partners. Linklaters has 460.
