A solicitor has had his entrepreneurial dream of “revolutionising neckwear for men” rubbished on BBC2’s Dragon’s Den.
It started so brightly for former HBJ Gateley Wareing associate Chris Gibson as he confidently began his Dragon’s Den pitch by quipping “forgive me for entering the Den without a tie on” before unveiling his zippable ‘SuperTie’. An animated discussion about tie-wearing ensued among Duncan Bannatyne and co, who appeared in amenable mood.
Then Gibson slipped on his SuperTie, demonstrating to the “Dragons” just how much easier doing up a tie could be with the help of a zip. The following responses ensued…
Kelly Hoppen: “I don’t know what the world’s coming to, I mean this is the most ridiculous idea.”
Duncan Bannatyne: “I think when you were at college having problems tying your tie you should have spent more time learning to tie it properly instead of inventing this ridiculous thing.”
Deborah Meaden: “I can’t see a reason why it will work anywhere.”
Of course, the Dragons have been wrong in the past. Perhaps Gibson’s fellow lawyers will better-understand the charm of the SuperTie, which can be seen in action below.
