The exodus began last autumn when Tim Moloney QC, Adrian Waterman QC and Tatyana Eatwell quit Tooks for Doughty Street, and continued during the spring as Joel Bennathan QC, Katy Thorne and Melanie Gingell followed them.
Then, last month Naeem Mian joined the departing masses as he left Michael Mansfield’s set for 2 Hare Court. Days later Tooks withdrew two 2014 pupillage places for which it had already accepted applications. And now a well known silk, who goes by the lofty moniker of @HumanRightsQC on Twitter, has announced that he’s leaving the set to go to Matrix…
Yes, Hugh Southey QC is the latest barrister to exit Tooks. Touchingly, Southey was so excited about the move that his triumphant adios tweet got the web address of the press release announcing it wrong.
Excited by challenges but will miss great colleagues at @tookschambers: http://t.co/BXY5AAxc9s
